When the Dot NET generic Top-Level Domain was initially launched in 1985, along with the first domain name extensions on the Internet, it was intended to be used by Internet Service Providers or infrastructure firms. Considering the fact that there were no specific stipulations about the usage of the top-level extension, though, .NET domains were purchased and used for different purposes and by a huge number of people. This TLD is a great alternative to dot COM, notably if the necessary domain with the latter TLD is not free for registration.
